The first time I heard of the Momofuku empire was during my first trip to New York. Back then, I visited the Momofuku Ramen Bar and popped my ramen cherry. Since then, a lot has changed within New York and myself. I’ve eaten a LOT more ramen. Momofuku expanded from the ramen bar to dessert. Likewise, I read the Momofuku and Momofuku Milk Bar cookbooks front to back.
Returning to New York a decade since my last visit, I knew that I wanted to try the Milk Bar. Especially, anything involving the infamous cereal milk. So, after dinner at Crave Fishbar UWS, Onnik and I made the easy choice of stopping into Momofuku UWS for dessert.
As we sat at our seats, overlooking Columbus Avenue, I felt the pleasure of being filled with joy. Truly, authentic, down to my bones joy. We commented on the Disney songs that reminded us of our youth. We finished our soft serves and left the cookies as snacks for the next morning. Simply put, eating our soft serve marked the perfect end to our quintessential New York day.
